Mini 5 Pro ND filters
Which densities are genuinely useful on a Mini 5 Pro, how to set them in flight, and why the mount is not shared.
Why this model needs them
The Mini 5 Pro produces an image people watch on a big screen. That is exactly the case where a too-fast shutter in full sun shows: movement looks stuttery while each frame, taken on its own, is sharp.
On an aircraft under 250 g the effect is even sharper: lightness makes movements livelier, and so the fault more visible.
The three densities that cover the year

An ND64 is only justified over snow, pale sand or open water at midday. Bought on its own, it stays in the pocket eleven months out of twelve.
The setting, once the filter is on
- Switch to manual mode
- Set the speed to 1/50 at 25 frames per second, 1/60 at 30 frames
- Sensitivity at its minimum
- Adjust the density, not the speed, until the exposure is correct
⚠️ If you correct with the speed, the filter is pointless. That is the mistake that cancels the purchase: you fit the filter, the aircraft stays in automatic, it raises the shutter speed again and nothing changes.
⛔ The mount is specific to this model
Mini 5 Pro filters are not those of earlier Mini generations, and they do not fit an Air or a Mavic either. Check the exact model reference before ordering, not just the range name.
Two more things to check:
- The weight of the filter, the Mini 5 Pro gimbal being sized for a light mass. A filter that is too heavy makes the motor work continuously
- The coating of the glass: cheap glass introduces a colour cast, which is precisely what a neutral filter must not do
⚠️ Filter weight is not only a gimbal question here. This aircraft weighs 249.9 g, and anything fitted counts against the 250 g line.
What not to buy alongside
- A polariser for everyday use: it darkens the sky unevenly as the drone turns, and the effect appears in the middle of a pan
- A set of six densities: three cover the year
